The Uttarakhand Investment and Infrastructure Development Board (UIIDB) is focusing on the strategic development of Tanakpur, a scenic town along the Sharda River that serves as a vital gateway to the Kumaon hills and treks into the Himalayas. Renowned for its proximity to the sacred Maa Poornagiri Temple, Tanakpur draws both pilgrims and nature lovers to its serene riverfront and lush surroundings.

Positioned near the Indo-Nepal border, Tanakpur is experiencing rapid urban growth. UIIDB’s Sharda Corridor project aims to guide this expansion through sustainable and planned development, with a focus on enhancing tourism infrastructure, spiritual retreats, and riverfront recreation. The vision includes strengthening physical and social infrastructure while preserving the region’s natural and cultural heritage.
